The Free From Food Festival 2024

This year was my first time going to the free from food festival and it did not disappoint! This years festival was in Woolwich near Greenwich, luckily enough for me it was only an hours drive and there is plenty of parking nearby!

Some of my top tips as a coeliac who went this year are:

  • Get there early! I had an 11am ticket, I arrived half an hour before hand and I am so glad that I did because by 10 to the queue was huge! I was very close to the door but the queue went on for miles. Although it did seem to move fast as once I was inside it got busy very quickly. So, if you don't want to wait around I recommend you get there as early as possible.
  • Bring a bag! I don't know why I did not think of this, it may just be me but I didn't bring a bag to put all my snacks and purchases in! Thankfully a store was providing bags with purchases so that saved me but just make your life easier and bring a bag!
  • Go there with an appetite! I honestly wish I had tried more places, it can be a pricey day out but it's a treat yourself day out! It literally is a one stop shop of gluten free food so you have to make the most of it! There is lots of treats and food you can take home with you but some of the food stalls with hot food I recommend you make the most of!

Some of my favourite food stalls were

  • Manna Dew, this got a large queue very fast, especailly as it was mid-morning everyone wanted the pastry goods!
  • Beaky Blinders, they had so many amazing sweet treats and savoury pastries too! Their sausage roll heated up was so yummy!
  • Borough 22 Donuts, the queue for the donuts was insane! Every time I walked past there was a queue it was definitely a priority for people!
  • Gluten Free Bakery, I hadn't ever tried freshly made bread and so I grabbed a bag of 5 bagels and a baguette. I definitely would say you need to heat them up. 100% toast the bagel as at first I thought, wow this is tough but when it is toasted it is amazing! You can tell the difference between the shop brought.
  • Good F'ing Pizza, does the best GF pizza ever!

If you haven't been before, I highly recommend you go! Just get there in good time and be prepared to stand in some queues for stalls it does get super busy!
